Alaitoc Guardians
Finished painting a box of Guardians. The gun on the platform is removable, all of the available guns are painted.
The Guardians were basecoated in Mordian Blue, then washed with Badab Black. The armour was brightened up with a watered down Enchanted Blue, then highlighted with Ice Blue.
Helmets were basecoated in Iyanden Darksun, washed in Devlan Mud, then worked up to a bright yellow with multiple layers of watered down Sunburst Yellow.
I can't wait to get a game going, so I can test them out on the battlefield.
Also, I have an Eldar Windrider Host to paint up. The Autarch is done, but I need to paint the 2 Vipers, 9 Jetbikes, and the 3 Shrieker Jetbikes I bought to go with them.
Wish me luck :)
Cracking! Nice work, mate.
ReplyDelete- Drax.
Lovely blue armored pointy ears. I've got a lot of catching up to do, are you doing an Alaitoc army?
ReplyDeleteLooking smart, did they take long to do? Your scheme sounds quite quick, with very good results.
ReplyDeleteAlaitoc is the flavor of Eldar I like most, yes. I also like Rangers, so the decision makes a kind of sense.
ReplyDelete@Vredesbyrd: In total time spent, they didn't take too long, few hours maybe. It seemed longer though, because my schedule's so crammed I had to split that up over several evenings. Also, if you were to assembly line the squad when painting, you could also probably improve upon that time. I personally don't have the patience for assembly lines. I get too bored and lose motivation. I enjoy seeing an individual model grow to completion one at a time. Also, my few attempts at assembly generally lead to some part of an individual getting skipped over...
That Ice Blue highlight looks awesome, and I know what you mean about the assembly lines when painting. I had the opposite problem though, I used to paint a model at a time which meant I lost interest when I had to do a whole new one. Now I line them up and paint each piece as neccessary. Any more than 5 at a time though and I fall asleep!
ReplyDeleteI like these a lot! A question, what colors have you used for the shuriken rifles?
ReplyDeleteThe effect you see is very simple. Basecoat in Bleached Bone, wash with Gryphonne Sepia.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to do this again, I'd do a 5-step to make them pop a little more. Basecoat Dheneb Stone, Devlan Mud wash, work up the raised areas with Bleached Bone, highlight drybrush with Skull White, then finish off with some selective Gryphonne Sepia wash (only in recesses, not where the drybrush was). You can see an example of it here in steps 6-10.
