The second wash was watered down so I didn't lose too much brightness on the model as a whole, meaning that I didn't require a highlight. The wash really does blend everything nicely and gives a great sense of shading and depth for virtually no effort. They are a marked improvement on the old washes, and I highly recommend them.
I ordered a while ago the full set of Foundations and Washes. If you guys find the above useful or interesting, please let me know if you would like to see another foundation (or normal color) tested with a couple washes. I can use some of my old plastics sitting around in my bitz box ... as well as some old models from old board games.

The washes are such a bit step forward in ease of use. Its almost magic how the washes preserve the high and mid tones but still apply the shade.
ReplyDeleteI too am sold on the new washes. I can mix a decent wash, but not consistently. These are better than decent, and they are consistent to boot!
ReplyDeleteIm hooked on em too. It required a few applications of the wash, but they created a nice depth, without the messy pooling of the Flesh Wash ink I was using before. On my Blood Angels, I used the Baal Red then Sepia. Like the Banshee!
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to see the effect on a red model. A base of Mechrite Red, wash of Baal Red (or perhaps Badab Black?), coat of Blood Red, and a wash of Baal Red to tie it all together. Does anyone have any examples they'd care to share?
ReplyDeleteGreat work. I've been using the new washes extensively and they were worth every penny. I concur that they blend all the colors nicely and shading that they provide is first rate.
